The open beta, starting October 8, will be a first chance look at the revamped Conquest multiplayer mode. This will include the first chance experience of Orbital, one of the new maps.
The Battlefield 2042 open beta pre-loads became available on Oct 5, at 12AM PDT/ 3AM EDT/ 8AM BST on all platforms. On PC, via Steam, Epic, Origin and the EA app. 100GB of hard drive space is recommended, so be prepared for a large download and expect a significant download time.
General access to the open beta will begin on Oct 8 at 12AM PDT/ 3AM EDT/ 8AM BST on all platforms, and end Oct 10 at the same times mentioned above. For pre-orders and members of the EA Play subscription service, you can get in starting Oct 6 at 12AM PDT/ 3AM EDT/ 8AM BST.
Finally, with this beta, we will get the chance to check out the exciting Conquest mode, and the new map Orbital!
Conquest is the new multiplayer sandbox mode. Offering up to 128 players on PC and next gen consoles. The new maps have also been designed with this game mode in mind. Fast paced, multiple points of interest and multiple flags to capture.
Orbital, the new map, is pretty awesome. There is a rocket on the map that could either launch successfully, or impressively fail, both outcomes affecting the map uniquely.
You will also get to preview four of the new specialists and characters. Webster Mackay, Maria Falck, Wikus “Casper” Van Daele and Pyotr “Boris” Guskovsky.
The pros of participating in this beta are all of the above, but the cons are that you get nothing for participating. It is reported that nothing will carry over to the final game. No cosmetics, no XP…. nothing.
Battlefield 2042 is set to release on Nov 19, 2021.
